Handy dandy tutorial on "How to react when Open Office refuses to open a Word document when said document was written on a mac and you know it's fine OO is just being a dick because it knows it's bank holidays and you can't go to uni to open said document". (also known as the HTRWOORTOAWDWSDWWOAMAYKIFOOIJBADBIKIBHAYCGTUTOSD-procedure):

- Flip the fuck out
- Curse OO in all languages you know
- Curse OO in languages you don't know
- Curse OO in languages you just made up
- Cry (only not really but feel like crying)
- Give up
- Don't give up because damnit
- Convert the .doc into a PDF
- Open PDF because Adobe Reader isn't a dick
- ???
- profit

Please take notes, there will be a test on this stuff.

Oh my woes when OO refused to do what I needed it to do RIGHT NAO BECAUSE DAMMIT I NEED THIS LIEK LAST WEEK AND WHY DOES THIS NOT WOOOOOORK! ;____;

...in other words, I can relate. Not with the same problems, but a lot of precious time was wasted anyway. But good thing you made it work with Adobe Reader then.^^;

Luckily, it was just resources I needed and not a doc I needed to write into, so I could just print them out.

I'm still magnificently pissed at OO though.

about half an hour, some of it were spent on the "crying" and "give up" steps. Those are always very time-consuming, for som reason...

Told you Macs are bitches and they always seem to convert everything into mysterious Apple language so nobody will ever be able to open it on an unholy Windows PC. God forbid.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the fault lies with OO here, because OO is a HUGE DICK and I hate it so much but I don't want to pay for Office either so really it's my own damn fault... I was using the Word for Mac (instead of their own silly wordprocessing program omg so much hate there too), and if it really was their problem, the online PDF converster wouldn't have been able to read it, either? I dunno. OO sucks. that's all.
