On the accuracy of Wikipedia
I fess up! I love wikipedia, and I use it all the time. Even for University work! The process usually goes like thus: I look something up, then look at the references the article gives, go to look THOSE up, and then take it from there. It usually works like a charm and nobody will ever know.
Except today, today was special:
I took screenshots because I think I'm actually going to edit this, even though I've never ever done this, and it's giving me such a good laugh that it's almost a waste.
Found under Tanzimat on the english Wikipedia:

Sounds kind of cool, right? Also it was cited as a ref for something I needed so off we go, look for that article.
Like an idiot, I look up the whole title on JSTOR because I will never learn that the search function there is not up to my expectations.
And can't find it.
Cue despair.
Then I go to just look up the particular Journal, then the number and then...

No.
Seriously.
Guys.
How do you mix up 'Ice Cream' and 'Tradition'. I NEED TO KNOW!

What is this! It looks delicious! W-why-- As someone from the Ruhr area (=Turks everywhere) I feel severely cheated that I've never even HEARD of this stuff. Guys, you've been holding out on us. D=
Or maybe. Just maybe... it's due to a Turkish-Italian agreement who gets the monopoly on selling ice cream to Germany. Italy went all yandere on Turkey and made him swear never to even mention dondurma to Germany, ever. He even has to hide it from tourists, that's why it took you so long to find a shop in Istanbul.
So Turkey was like 'screw all those prissy Europeans', turned around and sold it to Japan. All of it.
And that's what happened.

Would you believe me that I had the exact same reaction when I discovered Dondurma? XD Fortunately I was in Japan and I knew where to find some, but still. I don't want to have to go to Japan whenever I want to eat Dondurma, it's so delicious! ;_;
That would make an awful lot of sense here. I always suspected Italy to have a secret yandere side to him, as seen in the strip with the mind binoculars, and well, we all know about Turkey's crush for Japan.
And now I want to see fanfic about this. Y u do dis 2 me Ati, you know how hard it is to find Turkey/Japan at all? ;_;And yeah, seems like they're hiding it from tourists even in Istanbul. Okay, I didn't ask anyone for directions, but I have been looking out and felt even more cheated afterwards. Maybe they might have some in turkish süpermarkets in Germany though...?
Don't you crush my hopes yet please. ;_;
