I think I just found the most beautiful sentence in the midst of a very boring book:

"'Word and image' has become something of a hot topic in contemporary art history, largely because of what are often seen as invasions of the visual arts by literary theory.[...]
Not surprisingly, the border police are on the alert to protect the territory of art history from colonization by literary imperialism."
- W.J.T Mitchell, 'Word and Image', in Critical Terms for Art History-

'Literary imperialism'. Heee. ♥

...

Ok, did I just reach a new level of 'nerd'?

On the other hand, the fact that I actually noticed some irregularities in the pattern of my parquet while 'reading' the book just shows how boring some parts of it are.
Yes.

Re: nerdiness: CLEARLY. However, for what it's worth, I think I just ascended with you. *g*

My commiseration in re the other, hideously boring parts of the book. D: I'm reading Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities right now; I wish there was such a thing as synchronized transatlantic book-reading, so I could share the awesome with you. Hang in there! *cheerleadin' high-kick*
